Big Sean - Control feat. Kendrick Lamar

Detroit’s Big Sean discusses his city’s current state but Kendrick Lamar steals the show with some incredibly hard bars.

There’s a buzz going around the hip hop world right now. The person responsible for this is Kendrick Lamar, who stole the show on Big Sean’s track Control. But before we get to that, let’s focus on the Detroit rapper and his bars where he touches upon his home city and how “they say Detroit ain’t got a chance, we ain’t even got a mayor.”

Remember those times when I was saying Detroit hip hop was bringing it back? Examples like this really show that off, despite the city’s hard times of late. Another area experiencing a “hip hop renaissance” of sorts is the West Coast and Lamar seems to be Leonardo Di Vinci of the cause, delivering the hardest bars I’ve heard in a very long time.

While some say Kendrick wasn’t really calling people out, names such as Big K.R.I.T., Drake, Jay Electronica and Mac Miller were mentioned in a context of making them forgettable and “trying to murder” them. Woah.

You’re gonna wanna stream it below and follow the lyrics up on Rap Genius.
