Pyxis from Louisville, Kentucky has delved into the Jay Dee archives as inspiration for his latest track, aptly titled “Dilla”. Where Pyxis excels is in retaining the original flavour of Dilla’s beat and just adding an uptempo bounce to proceedings, interspersed with a funky bass line that seems like it’s dancing along to the beat. “Dilla” stands out amongst all the tributes and inspired pieces for the simple reason that it has a life of its own away from the Detroit icon.
