New York based emcee Grandmilly serves up “Willie’s Message”, a track from his recently released project, The Miseducation EP.
We’re seeing a lot of music becoming transatlantic affairs, with musicians coming together from both sides of the pond. Grandmilly’s latest track “Willie’s Message” is no different as the NYC rapper has joined up with enigmatic London-based producer VRSYJNES (aka VerseChild) providing the sonic backdrop. What really stood out for me with this was how well the chilled production complemented Grandmilly’s liquid flow and sharp lyricism, creating the distinct East Coast feel we’ve been missing from New York of late. It’s good to see someone bringing the music back to its roots.
