J Dilla’s estate is set to released some more material for next year in conjunction with Delicious Vinyl.
If you weren’t too impressed with The Rebirth of Detroit or Dillatroit, fear not as there may be some salvation. According to FACT Magazine, the late Detroit producer’s estate, lead by his mother Ma Dukes, has been working very closely with her son’s old label Delicious Vinyl to release music. So what should we expect? Well, next month, a new track called The Throwaway will be released with the Yancey Boys (J Dilla and his younger brother Illa J) on the credits and Frank Nitt on the rhymes. Then in 2013, there’ll be a series of 10″ records made up of never-before-heard beats and bars, just in case you were having Dilla rhyme withdrawal symptoms. It’s a serious illness in the hip hop community, honestly. But that’s not all – taken from the Official Dilla Tumblr page:
The new year will also see the first official release the oft-bootleged Frank & Dank album 48 Hours, the only LP ever produced by Jay Dee without any samples. Frank Nitt is set to host the Second Annual Dilla Day in Detroit on February 9th, 2013.
Dilla lives. Never forget it.
