Shy Guy comes with a licence to kill… on the beats, that is. His free instrumental album samples the first seventeen James Bond themes in chronological order.
The James Bond series has given us some stupendous theme tunes from a wide range of musicians and acts. But how would they translate into hip hop beats? Shy Guy was the man on a mission to find out and his instrumental album “Beats, James Beats” is the result. The samples are taken from the first seventeen themes, starting with Dr No and ending with Licence To Kill. My personal favourite is On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Pt. 2 (Love Theme), flipping Louis Armstrong’s vocals and the beautiful string arrangement into a real banger.
