SONG FOR SUNDAY #20: Raphael Saadiq – Movin’ Down The Line

Raphael Saadiq’s beautiful ode to love, Movin’ Down The Line, is our Song For Sunday.

Taken from his last album, Stone Rollin’, Raphael Saadiq’s Movin’ Down The Line is this week’s Song For Sunday. The song is sweet ballad straight out of the classic Motown era about a man’s love for a woman and wanting reciprocation. Production on this and the rest of the album was very intricate, with Saadiq playing most of the instruments and layering them afterwards. The horn and string sections are exquisitely placed towards end to build up the pleading lyricism as the song reaches its climax. If you’ve ever been in love, you might identify with this song or perhaps it speaks to you on a different level. Either way, it’s mellow and evocative so enjoy!
