SONG FOR SUNDAY #24: Jurassic 5 – Concrete Schoolyard

Jurassic 5’s Concrete Schoolyard is our Song For Sunday this week.

I can’t take credit for this selection; that all goes to our writer, Bee. Concrete Schoolyard was a track off Jurassic 5’s debut EP and debut album of the same name. If you close your eyes, you’d think you were back in the early 90s but this didn’t come out until 1998. Nevertheless, Cut Chemist captured the vibe of the schoolyard with classic samples from Ike Turner & The Kings of Rhythm, Ramsey Lewis and others. If only it was as sunny in the video as it was outside. And how cool would it be if Cut Chemist came to your block with a ice cream van full of records?
