SONG FOR SUNDAY #31: Little Dragon – Feather

Our Song For Sunday this week is Little Dragon’s Feather.

The first name that springs to mind when you discuss music groups from Sweden is usually ABBA, but one group you shouldn’t sleep on from Gothenburg are Little Dragon. Consisting of lead vocalist Yukimi Nagano and close friends Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Källgren Wallin (bass) and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards), the group formed in 1996 and have released three brilliant studio albums. Little Dragon encompass a wide range of music from trip hop to 80s-styled synthpop and lashings of soul throughout. For our Song For Sunday, we chose Little Dragon’s Feather, an homage to the ethereal new wave days of the 80s. I remember the first time I heard it how familiar it sounded and genuinely thought it was an older song, just proving how well the capture the nostalgic period. Yukimi’s vocals seem to float in and out of the percussion and streaming melodies.
