5 L’s – International Maverick

I’m what some people might call a “music snob”. I have eclectic tastes but I like music a certain way or I won’t enjoy it. When it comes to hip hop, that way of thinking is even more potent. For example, I’m usually not a huge fan of tracks that just use 808 drum kits – the rolling snares and hi-hats just don’t move me and I’ve heard them a million times. With that being said, this track is different. It comes from Chicago MC and¬†producer International Maverick and it’s called 5 L’s.¬†Directed by Trilavision, the ambient sounds complement visuals of Chicago (a city I’ve been fond of since visiting this summer). Lyrically, it’s pretty solid, with some decent wordplay and content. We’ll be sure to keep our ears open for International Maverick’s next releases.
