SONG FOR SUNDAY #7: Joni Mitchell – A Case Of You

Something beautiful and touching from Joni Mitchell for today’s Song for Sunday.

In contrast to last week’s “raw” entry, today’s is a lot sweeter and mellow. The song comes from Joni Mitchell, who celebrated her 69th birthday earlier this week and it’s called A Case Of You. It talks about the infatuation you feel in a relationship, something I’m sure we’ve all felt at some point. The lyricism is beautiful and, at times, poignant, from the line, “I am as constant as a northern star” – a quotation from Shakespeare’s, Julius Caesar – to the chorus:

Oh, I could drink a case of you darling,
Still I’d be on my feet,
Oh, I would still be on my feet

The song was first released on the Joni’s Blue album back in 1971 and remains as one of her most well-known songs. If you have a loved one, tell them you love them, play this song and tell them Sampleface sent you. Thank us later.
