Carla Thomas – Sunshine

Sunshine on a rainy day?

Remember that British soul revival in the 90s and the huge crossover appeal? We miss those days. While it’s not as prevalent as it used to be, it’s not totally dead. Carla Thomas is an example of an artist keeping the flame well and truly lit, with her appropriately named track Sunshine off her upcoming debut EP. The former backing singer for Alexander O’Neal is also preparing a tour to accompany the release in 2013. Having been born and raised in Leicester, Carla’s interests for the arts started at the tender age of 3 years old. She got into ballet, contemporary dance, jazz tap and drama and this continued through into her teenage years, but somehow, I don’t think “song and dance” would do her nearly enough justice. This is a voice you’ll want to hear more of, so let’s hope this EP gets the recognition it deserves.

EDIT: Turns out the video is now private, which sucks immensely. Sorry!
