For our latest instalment of “How Did I Miss That?”, peep the 2012 video for Dolo The Bandit’s Roach Clips ft. Shanny.
Get this for a story. In 2010, NYC emcee Dolo The Bandit got shot in the face with a shotgun. For normal people, that’s the end but not for this guy. Like a Spawn-type figure, Dolo disappeared and re-emerged, new and improved. A year later, he was nominated for “Most Original Artist” at the Underground Music Awards and found his track “Get Down” in a Spike Lee film, alongside Ice T. That same year, Dolo The Bandit dropped Roach Clips, a gritty hip hop gospel of sorts with Dolo speaking on the experiences of previous years and how far he’s come since then over hard clashing drums and soul chops.
