Happy 28th birthday, ATLiens!

Now throw your hands in the air / And wave ’em like you just don’t care / And if you like fish and grits and all that pimp shit / Everybody let me hear you say, ‘O-Yea-yer’

Playlist: ATLiens (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)

Today marks 28 years since OutKast’s ATLiens was released1. The album debuted at #2 on the US Billboard 200 chart, and it sold nearly 350,000 copies in its first 2 weeks (it has since gone double platinum). It’s one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time and set the duo on a path towards even bigger and more expansive albums centered on themes of Blackness, Afrofuturism, life in ghetto, and self-observation.
