SONG FOR SUNDAY #102: Harvey Sutherland and Bermuda – Why Look Back?

Harvey Sutherland and Bermuda - Expectations

Harvey Sutherland and Bermuda’s “Why Look Back?” is our Song for Sunday.

The clocks have gone forward which means we’re creeping towards summer. That also means the folks down in Australia are inching ever closer to their winter. But that hasn’t stopped Aussie keyboardist Harvey Sutherland and his band Bermuda from salvaging the last of the summer rays for their latest EP Expectations. It’s brilliant from start to finish so it was difficult to choose a track for this week’s Song for Sunday but I plumped for “Why Look Back?”. An integral part of disco is having a groove and this number oozes with funk and syncopated joy. What I particularly love is the stripped back essence – just some drums, some keys and sun-kissed arpeggiated synths.

Expectations is available digitally and on 12″ via Clarity Recordings.
