SONG FOR SUNDAY #65: Lee “Scratch” Perry – Rainy Night Dub

Lee “Scratch” Perry’s Rainy Night Dub is our Song For Sunday.

With his birthday only four days away, Lee “Scratch” Perry will be hitting the ripe old age of 77 on 20th and as part of Jamaica Month, this week’s Song for Sunday is dedicated to the dub wizard. Rainy Night Dub is a dub remix of Watty Burnett’s Rainy Night in Portland, itself a reggae cover of Tony Joe White’s Rainy Night in Georgia. Perry’s trademark dub echo emanates throughout the remix, with the reverberated snares acting like raindrops adding to the theme of the title.
