“In a Silent Way” was recorded in one session in 1969. Miles used the classical sonata form as inspiration for the three-track LP and it marked the dawn of his “electric” period. But for those who weren’t foolish purists, it was a masterpiece and is widely regarded as one of his greatest and most influential bodies of work.
