Habibi Funk 005: Ahmed Malek & Flako – The Electronic Tapes

Habibi Funk 005 looks at the work of Ahmed Malek and restoration from Jakarta’s Flako.

Ahmed Malek was in his 50s when he discovered synthesizers during their relative infancy in the 80s. His experimentations remained in boxes kept with his family but now they have been brought to earth with the help of Flako. The songs available are atmospheric; almost foreboding when the leads kick in. Jakarta have been clear to point out this isn’t a remix project, rather a completion of Malek’s work in Malek’s vision. Think of it as a Habibi Funk Sagrada Familia.
