It’s like a weight lifted off your shoulders when you release your first project. In fact, it’s the same no matter how many albums you’ve dropped. And if it isn’t perfect, there’s no point crying over spilt milk, right?
And with that hackneyed segue, I bring you to Bodega Milk’s debut, “need some milk vol. 1”. The Brooklyn-based producer dropped his EP on Bandcamp today and it’s 6 tracks of dope hip hop and house beats.
What I like the most – besides the awesome cover by Jason Long – is the mix of styles. The EP opens with “afraid”, a nod to late 80s house, and moves into a slower, more dark and piercing place on “barrio shit” before jumping back to bouncing house vibe.
Overall, this is a solid debut and I’m looking forward to hearing more from Bodega Milk.
