London’s n2deepbeatz’s RMZTAPE.5 is straight fire, featuring raps from 2pac, Common and Gang Starr.
Whilst discussing samples on Facebook, I stumbled upon this gem of a beat tape by London producer n2deepbeatz. RMXTAPE.5, as the name suggests, is the fifth of a series of “remix tapes” (of which there have since been two more released) featuring dope rhymes from a Who’s Who of hip hop greats. My personal fave is “hurricane” with Black Thought, Common and Mos Def on the vocals. Yutaka’s Love Light provides the sample with its koto-based riff and some shuffling lo-fi drums and brash snares. It’s a throwback to the boom bap era with a taste of that current off-kilter rhythmic vibe.
