In this week’s Throwback Thursday, drag queen icon RuPaul stars as crime fighting federal agent in low-budget trilogy “RuPaul Is: Starbooty!”.

The budget was minimal, the camera work was abysmal and acting would make Z-list celebs blush in embarrassment but “RuPaul Is: Starbooty” offered a glimpse into the vibrant and iconic lifestyle of drag icon RuPaul. The three original movies are homages to the blaxploitation era of the 60s and 70s and stars RuPaul the titular “Starbooty”, a federal agent with villains and romance at her every turn (full synopsises of each film can be found on Wikipedia). In 2007, RuPaul made a fourth film entitled “Starrbooty” with a much larger budget (half a million dollars to be exact). For fans of his hit TV series “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, this is a stark contrast to the flamboyance and perfect elegance of the show but it captures the essence of a very fierce individual. Now sashay away.
