Solitude can be the best of catalysts and the worst. It’s down to how you harness that alone time. sundrenched, in his own words, “got lost in a blanket of sound”, comprised of “a mound of guitar loops and tape hiss, found sounds and audio artifacts”. The result of that experience was the sundrenched lofi guitar ensemble, vol. 1. I’ve known sundrenched (real name Ray Willson) for some time and I’ve always enjoyed his brand of lo-fi musical musings; this is no exception. It holds a sense of purity in its organic reverence to the soul. There are glittering harmonics, off-beat time signatures and plenty of guitar as you’d expect. But under it all, there’s emotion that constantly pushes through the fog. That’s what makes this so special.
