UK DJ Jaguar Skills Talks About Sampling

In an interview with Clash Music, Jaguar Skills shares his views on sampling and knowledge of hip hop.

Donning a ninja-like mask (or the popular culture stereotype anyway), Jaguar Skills is notable for his eclectic mashups of old school hip hop, 80’s pop and jazz breaks. He got down with Clash Music to talk about sampling, from its early history synonymous with the fledgling days of hip hop to the ethical and industry issues with the practice. Definitely an interesting read. Jaguar Skills will be performing his Hip-Hop Odyssey at London’s Village Underground on 22nd August, 9pm-2am. In his set, he’ll be piecing together 800 tracks in 40 minutes (that’s 20 tracks a minute).
