When executed properly, dramatic readings of poems are pretty dope. Badbelly’s rendition of his track Docks is an example of this. He recited the lyrics as part of the first episode of AFTV’s Spoken Word series.
The delivery may sound different to what you’d be accustomed to hearing both from Badbelly as an artist and in spoken word as an artform – at least from the videos we’ve previously shown.
But the Southampton based poet/rapper becomes entrenched in the maritime theme, flowing much like the sea he depicts in his words. Rap game Captain Birdseye? Aye, me homie!
