Orlando producer BYSON and his 2017 tape “refresh” is the subject of our affections.
BYSON’s refresh has a definite underground Japanese vibe; heavy on the low end with a Far East sample palette. The beats are simple in arrangement but knock hard even at their most relaxing points. Production-wise, the album was made using both older and newer hardware: MPC Live, SP-404SX, and SP-303 were used throughout, with the exception of “stay refreshed”, made with a Maschine and 303).
