Michael Jackson’s relationship with The Simpsons had provided the show with two of its many defining moments. The episode “Stark Raving Dad“, featuring Michael voicing a mental patient who believed he was Michael Jackson, is still one of the most famous Simpsons episodes and actually spawned another song but we won’t talk about that one today. Instead, we’ve chosen Do The Bartman for this week’s Throwback Thursday. Written and produced by Michael and Bryan Loren, Do the Bartman was a rap song that featured on The Simpsons’ 1990 album The Simpsons Sing the Blues. Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart, did all the rapping herself and, well, listening to some rap tracks at present, she could have slayed them on the mike (no pun intended). The track had similar stylistic flavourings to MJ’s Dangerous album with its strong new jack swing nuances so if you were a fan of that era, get on down!
