FKA Twigs (formerly known as “Twigs”) has just released her second EP entitled “EP2″ which is a great blend of delicate vocals with flavourings of Massive Attack, Jessie Ware and Portishead. EP2 found its way into my iTunes library literally moments after seeing the striking visuals of “How’s That”, “Pacify Papi” and “Water Me” and taking in the message behind the songs (displayed below).
“How’s That”
As well as being a outstanding vocalist, she does most of her production herself or with Arca who collaborated with Kanye on Yeezus which seems to work beautifully.
“Pacify Papi”
There was an instant intense yet gentle connection forged from listening to the song and viewing the immaculately shot video. It is evident that the styling and art direction for FKA Twigs is well thought out and very edgy, only further enhancing the branding behind her music (especially as she has been featured on the cover of iD magazine) over the past year.
“Water Me”
FKA Twigs is of Jamaican decent and spent most of her early years in Gloucester before moving to London then getting signed to Young Turks. Having the likes of “The xx” and “SBTRKT” is a great affiliation for a label that is very creatively driven giving artist the freedom to create the music in the truest reflection of themselves.
We’re excited to see FKA Twigs career rise!
