Flying Lotus recently dropped the video for his track “Coronus, The Terminator” and it’s not to be missed under any circumstances.
I don’t care that we’re only 1/24th of the way through 2015 – this is a contender for video of the year. Flying Lotus delivered one of the best albums of 2014 in “You’re Dead” as he pushed his art past the realms of music into the spiritual world and one of the guiding tracks was “Coronus, The Terminator”. Not to disappoint, FlyLo has provided visuals of equal quality with direction from Young Replicant which sees a man passing away but not before one last spiritual journey involving his son (presumably), three mysterious men in white (including Flying Lotus himself) and a deathly atmosphere overall. I don’t like to draw comparisons in works that attempt to be unique in their portrayal but there is certainly an element of Michael Jackson’s “short film” storytelling in this video and in many of FlyLo’s visual creations in the past few years. The messages may be different but it’s evident that he has something to say and wishes to draw the audience in to decipher them.
