Just a while ago, we were toasting the bornday of J Dilla but he wasn’t the only producer born on 7th Feburary 1974. Japanese producer and DJ Seba Jun was born on that day, performing under the moniker Nujabes. He also a record store owner as well as the founder of his independent label Hydeout Productions, home to the likes of Tatsuya Segawa and Uyama Hiroto. He died in a car accident on February 26, 2010 but not before releasing some of the best hip hop beats you’ll hear from the past decade. Drawing inspiration from nature and Japanese culture, Nujabes seemed to channel his surroundings into his spiritual soundscapes.
But words are cheap. Stream some of his tracks below and relax.
