How many of you have a sexy playlist? It takes skill to craft such a playlist, being able to predict the sensual undulations involved… okay, before this post gets X-rated, I’ll skip to the chase. Big Groove’s alter ego Jackson Valentine has saved you the trouble with a whole album of sultry grooves entitled Date Night. The 10-track LP sees the producer flexing his keyboard playing muscles to the max, from the funky Leon Ware-esque title track to slow jams such as “That Smile” and “You Ready?”. Big Groove loves his samples and with this Jackson Valentine project, he’s manage to blur lines between the sample and his own instrumentation. This is, of course, a compliment to his artistry and a hidden bonus is the spaces left open for potential growth not only in his own music but in the compositions themselves. In a nutshell, there are remixes waiting to happen amongst these jams. Just sayin’…
