Jahari Massamba Unit – Pardon My French

Jahari Massamba Unit is the new collaboration between Madlib and Karriem Riggins. Here’s more about their new album, Pardon My French.

Jahari Massamba Unit – Pardon My French

The last time Madlib and Karriem Riggins joined forces was on Madlib Medicine Show #11: Low Budget High Fi Music as “Supreme Team”. Now we have an official album from the pair under a new name—Jahari Massamba Unit:

We are proud to announce the long-awaited debut album from Jahari Masamba Unit, Pardon My French. Among all of the projects Madlib presented as part of his Jazz Universe, this collaboration was of particular note to fans, who continued to wonder for years if anything else might come from the collaboration. This album, put together by students of jazz in its myriad and historic corms, and also proponents of jazz’s future, reflects a lifetime of record collecting, musical study, woodshopping, and a reverential respect for one another’s craft.

The album will be released in two editions. The standard edition sleeve (the above featured image) was designed by Jeff Jank will be out on 27th November while the exclusive Rappcats Edition will ship mid-November 2020. That cover was silkscreened by Jason Jagel and printed on chipboard.

While you wait, stream a cut from the LP, ‘Les Jardins Esméraldins’, below.
