Summer is a matter of weeks away and if you’re wondering where the time has gone, so are we. But we’re replacing our curiosity about the speed of travelling time with questions of what to add to our playlists for those sunny barbecues and Los Angeles’ Jeff Jericho has provided something the soundtrack. His origins in music making started in the early 00s during his junior year in high school. After a brief hiatus, he returned to the fold and enlisted the help of his friends J-Myth and Tariq Beats for his debut solo release “The Jericho Experience”.
One of the tracks off that album, Drives Me Crazy, is what I like to call a cruising jam. The kind of joint you’d play on a hot day with the roof down on your car. Between the gorgeous flute sample and the cracking claps are Jericho’s rhymes on everything from gun violence to religion to the harmful effects of drugs. The track’s elements of conscious lyricism are enough to digest without sounding preachy and act as a healthy introduction to the rest of the project.
