In 2011, Liverpool’s URBEATZ gathered an array of local Black musicians to create an album and accompanying showcase event. The collaborations included the likes of Kof, Esco Williams, Janiece Myers, and Tremz and lead to wide praise and even a UMA Award nomination. But that was 10 years ago. Many of the participants left music due to systemic exclusion from the industry. Could a second bite of the cherry change things?
Liverpool ONE Project: Take Two is the result of that, thanks to ON RECORD resurrecting the project. Take Two brings with it a new collection of Black talent from a range of Black music genres and cultures but retains that local Liverpudlian link.
