Nametag & Nameless - For Namesake

Rapper Nametag and producer Nameless give us new music For Namesake.

Remember that remix of The DMT Song by Flying Lotus? Remember how Nameless BODIED it? Well, the Michigan producer has come correct with fellow Michigan rapper Nametag to bring their album For Namesake. Hailing from the same state as legendary hip hop group Slum Village, Eminem, Apollo Brown, these guys have a rich backdrop of hip hop culture and general success both in the underground and mainstream. Nametag made a name for himself early on in Detroit with a feature on Slum Village’s compilation “Dirty District Vol. 1.” and later “Dirty District Vol. 2” and Black Milk’s “Popular Demand”.

Thanks to that connect, Black Milk jumped on this project, spitting some bars over Oxymoron. As for Nameless, you already know what he’s capable of. Born in Flint, Michigan, but his production technique would have you thinking he was from Detroit. But his talents don’t stop there, as he’s also a graphic designer, having designed the covers for the Adobe Dillastrator instrumental releases. Everything about this just shouts Detroit area hip hop, with the gritty soul sounds and off-kilter rhythms reminiscent of the one Dilla. Oh, and did we tell you Guilty Simpson’s on it too?

Stream “Oxymoron” below and check the links after the jump to purchase.
