The timing of this track discovery couldn’t have been better. After coming home from work to the tune of Madvillain’s Raid and scrolling down my Facebook feed, my attention was drawn to the names Captain Murphy and Viktor Vaughn in the same sentence. Lord knows it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything tangible from Viktor in the way of a track or project and he hasn’t lost a step in the way of dark eclectic wordplay. Other special guests include Earl Sweatshirt and Thundercat who both made appearances on “Between Friends”. Captain Murphy takes something of a back seat on this, coming in last with his verses but the dark and twisted production is enough to leave you far from disappointed about that. I’m just happy DOOM and Flying Lotus (or at least their alter egos) finally got on a track together.
