Piñata may not be out until February but Freddie Gibbs and Madlib are keeping us sweet with their EP, Deeper.
I won’t pretend I wasn’t disappointed when I heard Freddie Gibbs and Madlib’s collab album Piñata wouldn’t be out until February next year considering how I’ve been waiting for a full length release from these guys since “Thuggin” in 2011 and “Shame” last year. But I’m impatient and I love Madlib so I’ll stop being a baby. For their final EP release, Deeper sees Freddie talk about the complex idiosyncrasies of a lost love over yet another Madlib soul loop with heartbreaking strings. As for Piñata, you might want to mark February 4, 2014 in your diaries, calendars or paper napkins as that is the confirmed release date. The album’s features include Raekwon, Scarface, Danny Brown, Joey Bada$$, Ab Soul and a whole load more. Wow.
