If you asked me what my favourite James Brown live performance was, it’d be this. The band was tight as hell (if they weren’t, JB would fine them) and the call and response between him and Bobby Byrd was superb.
But the thing I love the most is James’s energy. It was always high but there was something powerful about his renditions of Get Involved and the transition into Soul Power. And can we talk about that outfit and the hair? Whether it was relaxed or in an ‘fro, his hair always looked good (except that one time).
