After delivering one of the most lyrically impressive albums of 2012: Magna Carta, this new material from Melanin 9 doesn’t disappoint. Produced by The Summit and with scratches provided by DJ Pings, the chilled jazzy soundscape provides an environment that allows M9’s complex multi-syllabic rhymes to shine. The visuals are simple yet effective and feature scenes of M9 rapping against a black background interspersed with some impressive photography (including a time-lapse of a city’s skyline at night). The track itself sees M9 in a contemplative mood, dropping such lyrical jewels as “My heart’s a monolith drum, depict slums in communist tongue” and “Profound thoughts, resonate as a cloud form”.
