“Sideways” is a tantalising blend of crisp haunting vocals, cinematic stings, subtle keys and well orchestrated guitar that land perfectly on drums that remind a mix between FKA Twigs and Caspa and Rusko’s “Rock Bottom“. This is Phoenix Martins’ second release after her debut “Heart Strings“, produced and written by herself, Joe Fields and Nick Carter. Nigerian born and East London resident, Phoenix is on the rise especially after performing at this year’s Wireless Festival and working with the likes of King Charles, The Noisettes and Fyfe Dangerfield. Sideways is a refreshingly alternative unique portrait captured effortlessly in her visuals as well as the music. She is definitely one to look out for and she’s quickly making a name for herself.
