Slim the Chemist - Silence EP

Slim the Chemist - Silence EP

Germany’s Slim the Chemist keeps his jazz beats in order with his Silence EP.

I found this in my bookmarks from a while back and thought I’d share it with you. Slim the Chemist is a producer from Düsseldorf in Germany and Silence EP was his first release with Roots of Society Records. I had high hopes when I discovered his origin as Germany isn’t short of dope producers.

I was not disappointed.

I’ll get onto the beats in a moment but what initially drew me to the project was the equipment used: MPC 1000, a record player, a Tascam Portastudio 424 (and creativity). I found this on a routine inspirational search and as I owned 2 of these, it motivated me to get back on the beats at a time when I’d hit a rut. But the tools mean nothing without the craftsman behind them and Slim knew what he was doing here. Everything is smooth and easy. The chops are finely cut. The beats knock but without shattering your ears, and the rhythms are heady without putting you to sleep. My standout tracks include Silence, Walk On The Moon, and Represent.

Stream it below and we recommend diving into the Roots of Society Records discography for more dopeness. You won’t regret it.
